Men's Basketball Falls to Goldey-Beacom, 87-79
All five of Bridgeport’s starters scored in double figures, combining for 71 of the Purple Knights’ 79 total points.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Despite cutting a 21-point lead to just five late in the second half, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team lost an 87-79 contest to Goldey-Beacom on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing by as many as 21 late in the second half, and 19 at halftime, the Purple Knights were able to cut the Goldey-Beacom lead to just five points with 4:29 remaining.
Having to exert so much effort to come back, the Lightning capitalized with a quick spurt of their own—a 10-4 run that provided an insurmountable 11-point lead with 35 ticks on the clock.
Bridgeport's big stretch in the second half was a 29-13 run across a little over 10 minutes of game time.

All five of Bridgeport's starters scored in double figures, combining for 71 of the Purple Knights' 79 total points.
Junior Caleb Jacobs led the way with a near-double-double of 21 points and nine rebounds—each marking a new season high. He also added an incredible six steals, to go along with four assists.
Senior Jayden Iturmendi served as Bridgeport's second-leading scorer with 16 points, while graduate student Sam DeSouza finished with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Seniors Tim Dawson and D'Andre Collins each recorded 10 points to round the Purple Knights' starting five.
Bridgeport once again outrebounded their opponent, this time by a 39-28 margin. The Purple Knights also racked up 10 steals to mark their 10th game this season in double figures.
