TIGERS UPEND MEN'S BASKETBALL IN OVERTIME
Philadelphia, Pa. (2/10/24) The Holy Family University men's basketball team scored 14 points in the overtime period to lift them to an 85-78 victory over the visiting Chargers of Dominican University New York in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played in the Campus Center.
Following the game, Dominican now stands at 15-8 overall and 7-5 in conference play, while the Tigers improve to 8-13 overall and 4-7 in the CACC.
The Chargers trailed 38-28 at the half, but rallied in the second period to claim a 60-58 edge with 5:43 left in regulation. An 11-1 run by DUNY over the next three and a half minutes pushed theam ahead a 12 point (71-59) lead. HFU closed out the half with 10 straight points to force the overtime period.
Holy Family never trailed in the overtime period, outscoring Dominican 14-7 to take home the win.
Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) led four players in double figures with 24 points and completed the double-double with 11 rebounds.
Guard Isaiah Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) pulled down a career high 12 caroms, netted 11 points and six assists, while Emmanuel Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 11 points and four steals.
Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) scored 10 points and four rebounds with Jaden Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) contributed a team best six assists, eight points and six boards in the loss.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to non-conference foe, St. Thomas Aquinas College in the 2024 Doc Schelin Classic.
