Santoro's second career double-double, career-high 15 points from Kelly lead Skyhawks to second-straight NE10 win

RINDGE, N.H. (December 15, 2021) – Stonehill College outscored Franklin Pierce University 19-6 in the fourth quarter to secure a 70-59 victory in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball action at the FPU Fieldhouse tonight.

How it Happened

    Stonehill outscored Franklin Pierce 39-23 in the second half, including 19-6 in the fourth quarter alone, in securing its second-straight NE10 win and third win over its last five games overall.
  • Franklin Pierce held a six-point lead (34-28) after a three-point play from Skinner with 1:38 remaining in the first half, before carrying a five-point cushion (36-31) into halftime after Stonehill held a slim two-point lead (17-15) at the end of the first quarter.
  • Senior Kayla Raymond opened the second half with a three-pointer and then Bramanti followed with a layup off a Santoro steal to pull Stonehill even (36-36) 1:14 into the third quarter.
  • Kelly, who scored nine points in the third quarter overall, pushed Stonehill back in front with a three-point play (41-38) 3:14 into the frame.
  • Franklin Pierce was able to reclaim the lead (53-51) heading into the fourth, but Stonehill opened the final quarter with 14-straight points, including six by Santoro, to grab a 12-point lead (65-53) midway through the frame after back-to-back triples by Bramanti.
  • Franklin Pierce crept back within eight (67-59) after two free-throws by Skinner with 48-seconds to play, but would get no closer as Stonehill closed the win out by making three of four free-throws the rest of the way.

Noteworthy

  • Santoro's first double-double of the season is the second of her career, to go with 14 points and 11 rebounds against Saint Anselm College on December 7, 2019.
  • Santoro's career-high 14 rebounds marks her second career double-figure rebound game.
  • Bramanti has scored in double figures all seven games this season (20 career) and has led the Skyhawks in scoring in five of their seven games, including each of the last three.
  • Kelly recorded a career-high in scoring for the second-straight game with her 15 points tonight surpassing her 11 at Adelphi University on Sunday, marking her third double-figure scoring outing of the season.
  • Stonehill secured 50-plus rebounds for the second-straight game, posting a 53-37 rebound margin tonight.
  • Stonehill shot 44.1-percent (15-for-34) in the second half, compared to 20% (7-for-35) for Franklin Pierce in the final 20 minutes, after shooting just 32.4% (11-34) in the first half.
