Purple Knights Overpower Yellow Jackets In Home Win
Bridgeport came out 87-75 winners over American International Saturday afternoon.
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team defeated the American International College Yellow Jackets Saturday afternoon. Bridgeport grew as large as a 20-point second half lead and never trailed through the entire game, ultimately winning by a score of 87-75. The non-conference win improves UB's overall season record to 4-4.
Bridgeport was able to overcome a 41.7% to 27.3% three-point shooting deficit to the Yellow Jackets as well as a 32-20 bench points advantage to the visitors. The Purple Knights created a gap with 24 points from turnovers, 14 better than AIC and 18 on fast breaks compared to just five from the Yellow Jackets.
The UB attack was led by Sam DeSouza (Grad., Brooklyn, N.Y.) as he produced 19 points, going 7-of-12 from the floor, with eight rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal.
Jayden Iturmendi (Rs-Sr., York, Pa.) scored 19 points with eight rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
Senior D'Andre Collins (Newark, N.J.) provided 17 points as he went 3-for-6 from beyond the arc in addition to five rebounds, one block and one assist.
Tim Dawson (Sr., New Haven, Conn.) tallied 10 points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Up next, UB continues their stretch of Northeast 10 opponents when they host the Pace University Setters on Wednesday, December 13th. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. here at the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium.
