RINDGE, N.H. (February 19, 2022) – In the midst of a four-game losing streak, the Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team took on Northeast-10 Conference opponent Bentley University on Saturday afternoon. Seniors Lisa Sulejmani (Burlington, Vt.) and Rylee Skinner (Leominster, Mass.) finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively, to lift the Ravens to a 60-48 win.

With the win, Franklin Pierce puts a halt to its losing streak and improves to 11-12 (7-10 NE10), while Bentley falls to 19-6 (12-6 NE10). The win for the Ravens forced a split of the two-game season series.

The game was tilted in favor of the Ravens in the early stages of the first quarter, and they ultimately held a one-point lead through the opening frame, 19-18. Sophomore Ines Gimenez Monserrat (Mallorca, Spain) went 3-for-3 from the field for six points in the period, while senior Emma Carter (Bristol, Vt.) added five points of her own.

The second quarter was more of the same for the Ravens, who posted a 14-10 edge in the stanza and took a 33-28 lead into halftime. This time, sophomore Anna Badosa Soler (Girona, Spain) had five points to lead the Ravens, including a make from three-point range. Bentley graduate student Autumn Ceppi found the bottom of the basket to the tune of seven points, while senior Kari Brekke scored the Falcons' other three points in the quarter.

An explosive third quarter did a lot to put the game out of reach, as the Ravens added 23 points, to just 12 for Bentley. Sulejmani scored all 12 of her points in the period, with help from sophomore Gisela Vazquez Segura (Igualada, Spain), who had eight points. Ceppi added six more points in the quarter, but it was not enough to slow a red-hot Raven offense which went 10-for-16 from the field in the frame.

Leading 56-40, Franklin Pierce turned its focus to the defensive side of the ball, collected four steals and forced five turnovers in the fourth quarter. Skinner totaled the entirety of the points for the Ravens in the period, with four, while Soler grabbed two steals.

Sulejmani and Skinner were the two Ravens to score in double digits on the afternoon, while Carter contributed seven points, seven rebounds and six assists. Bentley put two in double figures as well, as Ceppi led all players with 17 points, and Brekke added 11. Ceppi grabbed 11 rebounds to complete her double-double, and had five assists and five steals as well.

Next up for the Ravens is a date with the Chargers of the University of New Haven, in an NE10 matchup on Monday, Feb. 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Fieldhouse.
