Special Season Comes to Close: Pace Falls to North Georgia in Elite Eight

WBB Recap - Elite Eight

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Setters Finish Season with 24-8 Record.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Appearing in the program's first NCAA Elite Eight since 2001, the Pace University women's basketball team was defeated by top-seeded North Georgia on Monday night, 68-61. The Setters' unforgettable campaign wraps up with a final record of 24-8. Pace's 2021-22 season featured milestones at every turn, including a run through the NCAA East Regional as the No. 7 seed. Pace also claimed the program's first-ever NE10 Southwest Division regular-season championship with a league record of 14-5.

In a year of grittiness and resilience, it was fitting that the Setters fought top-seeded North Georgia to the final buzzer on Monday. Coach Seymour's squad cut an 18-point third-quarter deficit to just seven with 2:03 on the clock before a final Nighthawks' spurt closed the door.

Lauren Schetter once again piloted the Pace offense with a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Schetter's sensational career comes to a close following one of the best seasons in school history. In fact, her 623 total points this year is the second most by any Pace player ever and the most since 1985-86.

A trio of Setters, Naya RiveraKelsey Quain and Katumina Mansaray, supplemented Pace's attack with eight points apiece. Senior Lauren Hackett finished with seven points, in addition to registering a team-high four assists.

Pace's defense tallied seven steals, while forcing 15 North Georgia turnovers. With the Setters trailing by just six points at halftime, it was a 16-4 run early in the third quarter that helped North Georgia stretch its lead to 18.
