FEBRUARY 25 RECAP

The only Monday night action in the region was a make-up game between last-place teams in the CACC, and it was a one-sided affair:

NYACK 92 CHESTNUT HILL 67

All 11 players scored, and five tallied between 11 and 14 points as Nyack thumped Chestnut Hill at Bowman Gym for its most lopsided win in over three years. Gemaal Davis fronted the balanced attack with 14 points for the Warriors, who led from pillar to post, bolting out to leads of 19-3 and 35-14 on the way to a 48-29 halftime cushion. The Griffins – who received 15 points from Liban Awl, 14 off the bench by Amir Warrick and 11 from Tony Toplyn, Jr. – never came closer than 17 after the break, with the margin maxing out at 92-63 after a lay-up by Cortez Rawls (personal-best 11 points in a reserve role, including 3-of-4 from long distance) with 1:36 to play. Joel Bailey compiled 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Nyack, which also landed Jah-Meer McDuffie (13 points, 4-5 FG, eight rebounds) and Jordan Rodriguez (13 points off the pine) in double figures. The hosts shot better overall (48%-40%), from beyond the arc (9-23 to 4-15) and at the foul line (17-20 to 11-21) while also winning the glass, 49-32. The loss was the 17th straight for Chestnut Hill, while the Warriors enjoyed their most points in regulation and largest margin of victory since a 105-75 blowout of Salem (WV) on January 16. 2016.
