Only one regional team was in action on Thursday, and it was a winning outing in Northern Pennsylvania:
FELICIAN 67 MANSFIELD 63
Jaylen Colon recorded a personal-best 17 points, four assists and six steals, while Zamir Wright came through with 16 points and six helpers to lead Felician past Mansfield (PA) at Decker Gym. The Golden Falcons never trailed on the night, racing out to a 12-2 lead, and then embarking on a 19-4 run in stretching a modest 22-19 advantage to 41-23 shortly before halftime. The margin was still a relatively comfortable 57-41 inside of the final nine minutes when the Mountaineers got off the deck and outscored their guests 17-4, creeping within 61-58 on a 3-pointer by Garrett Cook (representing half his offensive output on the night) with 1:55 to play. That’s as close as the hosts would get, however, as they turned it over on their next possession and fouled Wright while he attempted a right-wing three The junior guard sank all three of his free throws with 47 seconds left, then added two more 28 seconds later to secure the spoils and snap his team's five-game skid. Taylor Sweeney (21 points, nine rebounds) and Tyler Moffe (20 points) did the heavy lifting for Mansfield, which shot a frosty 33% from the floor but stayed close by drilling twice as many triples (10-29 to 5-19). The Golden Falcons outscored the Mounties 22-10 on second chances despite allowing more O-boards on the night (16-12). The win improved the East Region to 9-15 vs. PSAC opposition this season with five more crossover contests remaining. The conferences are “on serve” as 15 of the 24 games thus far have been played in the Keystone State.
