Women's Game Recaps #70 - 3/4/15

Mavericks complete season with a win…

  • Mercy ended their campaign with a non-league victory at the College of New Rochelle, 80-49. Brandone Roberts (27 points, 13 rebounds; 8-15 FG, 11-15 FT) and Tatiana Parish (career-high 22 points; 6-13 3FG) were the stars for the Mavericks as they dispatched the Division III Blue Angels, a program facing a non-Division II foe for the first time in 25 years. The contest was close for a goodly portion of the first half (New Rochelle led 20-18 with 7:29 to play) before a 23-4 closing eruption (8-0 to open, 9-0 to end) gave Mercy a comfortable 41-24 halftime lead. That decided this one as a contest and Mercy eased in the rest of the way. Jah-Leah Ellis (27 points, 10 boards; 8-15 FG, 11-15 FT), Alyssa Pechin (11 points) and Caitlin Harrison (8 points, 12 caroms) topped the New Rochelle stat sheet as they fell to 12-11 on the season. Mercy had the better of it in shooting (41%-28%), three-pointers (6-25; New Rochelle 2-19 3FG) and on the glass (48-39) while out-scoring the Blue Angels in bench points, 55-0.
