NCAA Division II tournament info…

  • The NCAA Division II East Regional begins on Friday at the Center for Recreation and Sports in Garden City, New York (Adelphi University serving as the host). Four games on Friday will be followed by the regional semifinals on Saturday evening and after a day of rest the title will be contested on Monday night. #6 seed Franklin Pierce meets #3 seed UDC to start it off Friday at noon, followed by #7 Philadelphia against #2 New Haven at 2:30pm. The 5:00pm game has #5 Queens facing #4 Stonehill, with the #1 seed and host Adelphi clashing with #8 seed Holy Family at 7:30pm. Saturday's semifinals will be at 5:00pm and 7:30pm, the winners of the first two Friday games tipping off first. Monday's championship game is slated for a 7:00pm tip-off.

 

ECAC Division II tournament info…

  • Also on tap this weekend is the ECAC Division II tournament, a four-team festival hosted by Lincoln University (PA), which includes two East Regional teams. Saturday's opening round sees #4 Dominican tackle #1 seed Lincoln at 1:00pm and #3 Bluefield State meet #2 seed LeMoyne at 4:00pm. The winners face each other in Sunday's title tilt at 4:00pm.

  • The final in-season WBCA/USA Sports Division II national poll was released this week with four East teams in the top 25. Adelphi (up one place to #10), Stonehill (up one place to #13), UDC (down a spot to #22) and New Haven (down two spots to #23) are the regional representatives this time around. The final WBCA poll will come out after the NCAA tournament in done. This poll can be seen at http://www.wbca.org/pages/POLLS_d2_2014-15_030315

 

  • The final D2SIDA national and regional polls were revealed this week, as well. Just as it was last week, there were three East teams in the top 25, Adelphi (staying at #8), New Haven (up four spots to #20) and UDC (down four places to #23), with Stonehill among the others receiving votes again. Thise four clubs comprise the top four in the regional poll and the rest of the top 8 mirror the NCAA East Regional tournament positions.
