• Daemen’s winning streak reached nine games (the second-longest current regional skein and their longest in eight years) on Sunday as they dropped Queens, 64-50. The Wildcats won all four quarters against the Knights, taking control with an 18-3 carryover run between the first two periods, staking them to a 25-15 lead. Although they never lost it, QC stayed in touch and was within 29-23 at the break. Daemen slowly stretched the margin during the third period (49-36) and led by as many as 21 points before a late Queens rally (the last seven points of the game) made it cosmetically closer. Caroline White (18 points), Tiara Filbert (15 points) and Erin Egan (12 points, 8 boards) keyed a Wildcats attack which profited from three-point land (7-21 3FG) while Queens struggled badly (1-12 3FG). Beth Bonin (11 points, 9 rebounds) was a bright spot for QC as she notched her 1,000th point in this one while Maia Fawcett (11 points) also reached double digits for the Knights, who are three games out of the playoff spots in the ECC. Daemen, meanwhile, stayed in second place in the loop, a game behind St. Thomas Aquinas in the loss column.
• Molloy led from start-to-finish on Sunday in dispatching Roberts Wesleyan, 78-56, shooting 48% overall, making 9-20 from three-point land and dominating the paint (40-24). Four Lions collected double figures including Kathryn Gibson (16 points), Tyra Harrison (12 points), Marthe Guirand and Melody Prichard (10 points each), as they raced to a 25-12 lead after one frame and kept building. The gap was 44-24 at the half and 64-37 after three periods with Molloy never really allowing the Redhawks to gather any momentum. Taylor Bynoe (15 points, 10 rebounds), Emily Miller (13 points, 9 caroms) and Sara Nady (10 points) led the RWC offense but their shooting (33% FG, 4-25 3FG) was nowhere near enough to mount a comeback and they sustained their fourth straight loss. RWC’s setback drops them into a tie for sixth place in the ECC with Bridgeport, a half-game behind UDC, in the battle for the last two playoff spots.
