Women's Game Recaps #67 - 2/25/19

• Mary Trossi scored her 1,000th point for Chestnut Hill as the Griffins beat Nyack in a make-up CACC crossover clash on Monday, 71-59. CHC pulled into a tie for fifth place with Wilmington in the CACC South with the victory, just a game behind Goldey-Beacom for the last playoff spot with two left on the slate. In addition to Trossi having a milestone evening, Leah Miller (16 points, 10 boards), Abbey Spratt (career-high tying 13 points) and Jaeda Wildgoose (11 points) enjoyed good nights for the CHC, which assumed control of the game in the second quarter. The Griffins held a 25-20 edge after the first ten minutes and were ahead by a pair (29-27) with 6:10 to go when they exploded. A 17-0 bomb over the course of the next four minutes turned the game completely in their direction (46-27, 2:01) and they took a 50-32 lead into the break. The only run the Warriors were able to stitch together was an 8-0 spell that brought them within eleven points (65-54) with 4:25 to go. Chestnut Hill wasn’t about to let this one get away, though, and stabilized things thereafter. The Griffins held a major advantage in shooting (52%-28% FG) and held sway in the paint, too (24-12). Jocelin Wright (19 points, 10 boards), Kyla Given (17 points) and Elle Nittinger (8 points, 11 boards) led the way for Nyack, who have dropped four in row.
