Women's Game Recaps #78 - 3/13/19

Roberts Wesleyan advanced to the semifinals of the Division I NCCAA national tournament at Grace College (Indiana) with a 76-54 victory over Hiwassee College (Tennessee) on Wednesday. The #3 seed Redhawks, who were led by Emily Miller (29 points, 12 rebounds; 11-16 FG), Sara Nady (16 points, 7 assists; 4-8 3FG) and Taylor Bynoe (12 points, 8 caroms), took control quickly, leading 23-13 after one period. The last seven points of the first half made it a 43-23 halftime bulge for RWC and the advantage grew to as many as 31 points during the second half. The Tigers (22-5), the #6 seed, didn’t threaten much in the second half despite having four players in double digits including Hailey Browning and Shominique Pearson (13 points each). The Redhawks out-shot Hiwassee (51%-30% FG), won the glass by ten (44-34), were far better from three-point land (8-19; Hiwassee 7-35 3FG) and dished out 21 assists on 30 field goals. Roberts Wesleyan will face #2 seed Brewton-Parker in Thursday’s semifinals.
