Hello one and all!! The new season is underway after a wild weekend of games. Over the next few months this column will be opinionated, and hopefully a lot of fun as we navigate to the NCAAs in 2023.
A little about the author, if you don’t mind. I am Tim McCaffrey. I have covered DII basketball in the East Region since 2003. It is a humble privilege to have worked for so many schools across the region. Currently, I broadcast for Le Moyne Women’s Basketball as the radio-voice of the Dolphins. Last season, I was lucky to have been part of a broadcast of a conference tournament in all three of the leagues in our region, so it is clear… I will go when I’m able and asked!
I use the word integrity a lot. It comes from my 1500 + games umpiring professional baseball. If you don’t have integrity you have nothing. This shapes a lot of what the Musings is all about. I start every season hoping that not a negative word will be written all season, but if it is newsworthy it will be in this column.
Ways to get in the column (the good way): Be Kind, do things the right way, be generous, be honest.
Ways to get in the column (the wrong way): Be mean, yell at officials as if they are not human, run up the score, dishonesty.

The real reason you will come to the column is the Musing’s Rankings. The rankings will begin at 15 teams (men & women) and shrink slowly, but surely to eight. We have had a pretty good handle on the top eight over the years, missing just one team (it’s a long story).
