 Women’s Game Recaps #64 – 2/15/18

  • The only game on Thursday was a key CACC North Division clash which saw Felician slip past Dominican, 59-57, to create a tie between the teams for third place in the loop. Bionca Chambers produced a career-high with 22 points to lead the Golden Falcons but it was Kameron Stone (10 points) who converted the winning basket with 1:01 left in the game. The teams were never separated by more than eight points all night, with the Chargers leading at the half, 34-28. DC scored the first hoop of the third period to make it 36-28 (the largest lead of the contest) yet that merely prompted Felician to spring to life and hit back with a 13-2 spell and claim a 41-38 lead. Chambers notched eight of the points in the run for the Golden Falcons, after which they never trailed again. Dominican managed to stay right on their heels and forged ties at 53 and 57, the latter after a pair of Taylor Tomlinson (12 points) free throws with 1:23 to go. Stone then came up with the decisive hoop and Chambers swiped a pair of steal thereafter to preserve the lead (DC didn’t get a shot off in the last minute). Sophia Guerrier (12 points, 9 boards) added depth for the Golden Falcons, who have won three in a row for the first time in three years. Rebecca Rabeiro led DC with 13 points, including the 1,000th of her career. Ciera Rivera contributed a double-double for the Chargers (11 points, 11 rebounds) and her team had the better of it from the line (DC 19-26; Felician 10-18 FT) but still came up short. Both teams hold a two-game lead over Post with three games remaining for the final two spots in the CACC North playoff race.
